As a Cultist, you are the harbinger of an Elder God—Nytherion, Vel’Zathra, Thal’Zorym, and more. Your goal is to complete forbidden rites, corrode the veil of reality, and summon your cosmic master into the world.

Conduct Rituals: Capture and corrupt hidden ritual sites across the map. With each one, your god’s power grows, unlocking horrors no mortal can resist.

Spread Madness: Use Obscure, Fear, and Hallucination to dismantle enemy vision and force Investigators into Sanity-Broken states—leaving them vulnerable to reality-warping death.

Summon the Unknowable: Win Elder God Events to alter the battlefield—spawning avatar monsters, distorting terrain, or silencing the minds of your enemies forever.

Control Through Stealth: Obscure hides you from specific targets. Stealth Ranks, shimmer ranges, and Clarity thresholds create a terrifying game of vision and misdirection.

A Unique Sanity & Control System

Nightmare Fuel introduces a secondary health bar—Sanity, representing your mind’s grip on reality. Losing it triggers devastating effects:

• Fear and Charm escalate, causing full immobilization or hallucinated movement.
• Obscure becomes true invisibility, hiding enemies from your perception.
• Ultimate abilities become unusable, forcing strategic retreats and coordination.
• Ragdoll effects and visual distortions leave you vulnerable, panicked, and alone.

Only team healing, environmental zones, or rare Tarot cards can restore your mind. And if you’re already broken? Every control effect gets worse.

No Hard CC—Only Resistance Battles. All crowd control effects are governed by a Magnitude Resistance system:
Sanity-Broken targets suffer stronger versions of each effect (e.g., Fear becomes Fear + Hold)
Every CC ability has a Magnitude Strength value
Every character has resistance values calculated from attributes like Resolve, Fortitude, and Clarity

Elder Gods: Mini-Games that Rewrite the Match

At 3 minutes, the dominant cult determines the active Elder Being. At 5, 10, and 15 minutes, your god begins to manifest—unleashing world-altering events:

• Nytherion: Break memory. Mirrors and fonts must be shattered or defended.
• Vel’Zathra: Expand vision and hallucination zones. The map deceives.
• Thal’Zorym: Spawn hiveborn monstrosities that hunt or protect lanes.
• Malzurael, Zzha-Koruun, and more gods reshape terrain, drain sanity, or distort ally targeting.

Winning these mini-games grants lasting buffs, elite summons, or terrain-altering effects that push matches toward madness.

Clues & Minor Ritual Sites

In Nightmare Fuel, power isn’t taken—it’s unearthed.

Minor Ritual Sites are scattered across the city, pulsing with dormant energy. But these arcane nexuses cannot be seized by force alone. To capture them, your team must first uncover hidden Clues—whispers of forgotten rites and fractured realities.

Earn Clues Through Combat:
defeating enemy minions has a chance to spawn a glowing green clue where the minion was defeated. Collect it to add to your team’s shared Clue pool.

Complete the Ritual:
Each Clue unlocks a specific Ritual Site for your team—no capture is possible without it. Once a site is taken, the Clue is consumed, and the zone becomes sanctified, offering vision, buffs, and map control.

A Voice from Beyond:
Picking up a Clue triggers a unique narration from the active Elder God, drawing you deeper into the mythos and madness of the current campaign.
